home was originally designed with gracious living areas, but the kitchen space was dark and limited. The design team was challenged with reconfiguring the plan to enlarge the kitchen for a more convivial family cooking experience with modern appliances while enjoying exterior views of the newly landscaped pool terraces.
The existing kitchen and two exterior walls were completely removed; the original office space, combined with the butler's pantry and kitchen, created one spacious eat-in kitchen. Cherished original bricks from Boston’s Historic Old North Church were salvaged from a kitchen wall and given a new home in the reconfigured butler's pantry. All energy efficient appliances gave the owners the custom function and "green aspects" they were seeking. A new changing room and powder room were also added to provide a connection to the new, landscaped pool area.
