Coho House

Set amidst rocky ledge and stunning water views,

this 1905 yellow brick home is being lovingly restored and modernized. The design of an elegant new facade houses an open floorplan and a new two-car garage.  The original home existing of several disconnected spaces was once described as a “stick of butter” for its long horizontal shape built of yellow bricks. It was perceived more like a school than a home when viewed from the street. In need of better circulation in and around the house, the new plans complement surrounding water views with walk out terraces and houses a fully accessible elevator within the new exterior tower. The “stick of butter” transforms into a dynamic composition with new roof lines and windows to provide a stronger connection to the surrounding landscape, while looking more residential in scale. Materials include locally sourced fieldstone, slate and copper roofs, along with the original yellow brick, which is being carefully salvaged and matched throughout for the reconstruction. This newly renovated home will provide luxury living spaces for the new owner with light airy interiors, updated systems, terraces and outdoor spaces to be enjoyed from all points of view.
